I've never cared much for this woman. When your motto is "If you can eat it, you can deep fry it," it's clear we've got little in common. This week my disdain for her has reached new heights. Open mouth insert pig's foot.

A frenchie for your Tuesday.

All I want is a French Bulldog (and bigger closets, fresh flowers at all times, another trip to Paris, the perfect red lipstick, a stylist, a singing voice, athletic ability.... a few more, but mainly just the Frenchie).

All my husband says is "nope."

This weekend.

I know that Fall has officially arrived when my darling husband makes argyle sweater vests a regular part of his wardrobe. Yes, I had a wonderful Fall weekend, in case you were wondering.
I find that this season is always phenomenal for the social life.  Less phenomenal for the waistline.  But regardless, I enjoyed every minute of this weekend.

I spent time with amazing and hilarious friends and with family.  I can barely stand the excitement.  After 8 years in this city, I finally have a family member here.  I've always been so jealous of my friends who has Sunday dinners with their brothers or saw their aunt a few nights a week. It's finally my turn!

I fell a little more in love with Regina Spektor.  If that's possible.  And Drew Barrymore.

I tried in vain to quit these... but alas, it was futile.  It's especially difficult when you live just 2 minutes from here.

Our new furniture arrived and we are finally free of a million boxes of wedding gifts.  It's so nice to feel settled.  Of course there is still so much to do, but it's a start.

Our beloved photographer featured us and said lovely, lovely things.We were very flattered.

I made a hearty, delicious dinner and my husband was impressed.

I'm off today and all is right with the world.  I've got an exciting week ahead.  More on that soon.

A very happy birthday.

For the last two years I have had the honor of attending the birthday party of a remarkable woman.
Marie has known 4 generations of my husband's family.  Her beloved brother accompanied Mr. DD's grandmother when she forged release paperwork, marched herself into Nazi offices and sprung her husband out of a concentration camp immediately before they fled Germany.  Marie earned her PhD, traveled the world and has lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan since the 50's.  Her nails are always painted and her hair is always done, because "if you let the little things go, the big things will soon follow."  She leaves her apartment with her aide almost daily and has been known to show up unannounced and bearing a gift at my huband's office.  She calls him her "jewel" and her "special friend" and claims to have fallen in love with him the moment she saw him.  (Apparently a theme in his life.)

We try to see her once or twice a month.  She has amazing stories and she loves company.  We feel incredibly lucky to know her.
